Study of the phases of boiling from a heated wire in a low temperature boiling fluid.

An electrically heated Ni-Cr wire is immersed in a bath of 3 M FC-72 heat exchanger fluid having a boiling point of 56 degrees C. Here we see an early stage of boiling called Nucleate.

Boiling progesses into the transistion region.

Boiling enters the stable film region of vigerous bubble formation.

A student team keeps a close watch on the immersed filament for signs of boiling.
